Haslewey Hens Take on 70-Mile Charity Hike for Haslewey!

The walking boots are coming out! A team of ten fantastic women – the “Haslewey Hens” – are taking on an incredible 70-mile walking challenge to raise vital funds for Haslewey Community Centre.
Led by the Mayor of Haslemere, Councillor Jacquie Keen MBE, together with Haslewey Trustee Jan Jeffcoat and their fellow Hens, the team will complete the challenge over a series of walks in the coming months.
The adventure begins on Saturday 10th October at 10am, when the Hens will gather outside Haslemere Town Hall before setting off on the first of 7 legs of their fundraising challenge.
We would love as many people as possible to come along to the Town Hall to wave them off, wish them luck and show their support.
Haslewey – the Mayor's Chosen Charity
We are incredibly proud and grateful that Haslewey Community Centre has been chosen by Councillor Jacquie Keen as the Mayor's charity for her 2026/27 mayoral year.
Jacquie was elected Town Mayor on 14 May 2026. As Mayor, she is Haslemere's first citizen, chairs meetings of the Full Council and represents the town at civic and ceremonial occasions, as well as acting as an ambassador for Haslemere and supporting community groups and projects. On becoming Mayor, Jacquie spoke about the importance of Haslemere's volunteers and said that she wanted to listen and support the community wherever she could. She also announced Haslewey Community Centre as her charity for the coming year. Haslemere Herald
For everyone at Haslewey, this support means a great deal. As an independent registered charity, Haslewey provides a welcoming community hub for people of all ages. From our café, Post Office and health and wellbeing services to classes, activities, room hire, events and community support, Haslewey is here to bring people together and provide services that make a genuine difference locally.
Every pound raised through the Haslewey Hens Hike will therefore help us continue our work within the community.
